Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBSS) is considered the gold-standard procedure in assessing swallowing function. It is an x-ray/ fluoroscopic evaluation used to assess swallowing. Various texture and consistency food coated with barium are administered and swallowing is assessed. It is extremely helpful in diagnosing motility disorders affecting swallowing.
These diagnostic tests are conducted in the Radiology Department at our attached hospitals by our well trained swallowing therapist.
